SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

ORGANISER

The meeting is organised by the New Zealand Classic Motorcycle Racing Register Inc. under Motorcycling New Zealand Permit no #21799

RULES

The meeting will be conducted under the Manual of Motorcycle Sport of MNZ, the Technical Rules pertaining to the Classic Register and these supplementary Regulations.

ENTRIES

Entry fees are $450 for current Senior NZCMRR members & under 18s free. $510 for Seniors of other MNZ Affiliated Clubs. $330 for Regularity Class NZCMRR members.  $250 for South Island entrants. Entries close Thursday 17th September 2026 at 5:00pm for inclusion in the colour programme. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Race Secretary where possible, but may incur a late entry fee.  On the day entries will be accepted, providing there is room on the grid - a $50 late entry admin fee will apply.

TAUPO HEALTH & SAFETY LEVY - MANDATORY

All compeitors (including swingers) are required to pay the mandatory Track required Taupo H & S Levy as part of their entry. 

LICENCE

MNZ competition licence is compulsory. No competition licence - no ride.  One Event Licences can be prepurchased with entry or some may be available on the day.  

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Membership of an MNZ affiliated club is compulsory. If you are not a current NZCMRR club member you must provide proof of your affiliated club membership.  A list of NZCMRR current member competitors will be provided to the MNZ Steward.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS

International competitors wishing to compete in an NZCMRR event must notify the race secretary of their intent to race at least one month before the meeting date. International competitors must obtain a release from their motorcycle Federation and have this sent to MNZ along with their insurance details. If an overseas competitor does not have a licence with their motorcycle Federation please contact MNZ admin@mnz.co.nz. International competitors must have Insurance which meets the minimum FIM Standards. Once approved MNZ will issue a MNZ licence to the rider for use at the event. One Event Licences cannot be issued to International Competitors.

REGULARITY CLASS/NEW COMPETITORS 

The regularity class at non-Festival events is to allow competitors new to the NZCMRR the opportunity to try racing.  Competitors will receive a special extra briefing.  They are requested to initally wear hi-viz vests so that other riders, marshals and officials can keep an eye on them.  After practice qualifying they are placed on the back of a suitable, timewise, race group.  They are not eligible for Championship points. The regularity class is run under the general MNZ rules and require a competition licence. One event licences can be purchased at sign-on. Please note that this event is open to solo machines only.

EVENT PROGROGRAMME

Sign-on and machine examination is from 7:30am until 8.30am cut-off. Riders briefing at 8:30 am and on track at 9.00am.  Off track by 5pm.

PIT LANE RULES - TAUPO

No children under 12 are allowed.  Covered footware is required and the last bike must have crossed the start line, at the beginning of a race, before people are allowed to stand by the pit wall.

RACE NUMBERS

In the event of duplicate race numbers then the NZCMRR competitor has the exclusive right of use of that number.

TRANSPONDERS

Transponders are used to time at all events.  NZCMRR allow the use of a competitors own transponder or one may be hired from the Club.  The onus is on the competitor to ensure that they have their transponder on their bike whenever it is racing.  If there is a faulty transponder out on track timing may, if possilbe, attempt to manually time the competitor and the competitor will be told to check their transponder after the race.  

CHEST AND BACK PROTECTORS 

Chest and back protectors as per MNZ MoMS 8.1c are compulsory. No protectors - no ride.  The MNZ Steward will be conducting random pit checks to check on compliance of Helmets, Chest and Back Protectors along with fire extinguishers.  If your gear is found to be non-compliant you will not be allowed to go on circuit until it is.

METHANOL

All competitors using methanol must register their bike and race group at sign-on and have the appropriate 3 stickers on their bike before going on circuit as per MNZ rules.  The MNZ Steward will be doing random pit checks checking on Methanol stickers.  If your stickers are found to be non-compliant you will not be allowed to go on circuit until they are.

ENTERING & EXITING, PIT LANE - TAUPO

Competitors shall only exit the pits to the circuit under the control of the Pit lane official and via the pit lane exit only and stay to right until up to race speed. Competitors found to be riding the wrong way up or down Pit Lane or speeding in the pits may be fined or excluded from the meeting. Entry to the Pit Lane is via the escape road/drag strip at the end of the back straight; Competitors must move to the far right of the circuit and reduce speed and signal their intentions to leave the track without impeding other competitors in the process. If you overshoot the end of the back straight, you must take the slip road, through the pits and back out through pit exit to re-enter the circuit. 

GRIDS/POSITIONS

Solo bike grids are now 3 x 3 staggered with pole (#1) on the right hand side at all circuits.  There is a maximum of 40 bikes allowed on the start grid.  Know your grid-position BEFORE going out to grid up for racing. There are no on-track crew to assist your correct placement.  Anyone found to be lining up in the incorrect grid position will incur a 20 second time penalty. The weekends grid positions/layout plan will be displayed with the timing results in the sign-on office. 

START PROCEDURE

ALL track “Call ups” will be indicated over the PA and with the PA “HOOTER”. ONE Hoot will indicate the FIVE MINUTES call. TWO Hoots will call TWO MINUTES to track opening. The pit gate will remain open for 30 seconds.  Late bikes will start the event from pit lane.  If you can’t get a qualifying time, you can be automatically placed at the back of the grid, see the Race Secretary as soon as possible to be added.   START PROCEDURE: START LIGHTS will be used to START all Races. 5 red lights will count up, once they go out, you go.

EXCEEDING TRACK LIMITS

All competitors will remain within the track lines when moving through the chIcane and onto the back straight. Any rider that is observed to be consistently exceeding the track limits, will be given a time penalty which will be determined by the number of times the rider exceeds the track limits within their race. All decisions regarding penalty will be at the discretion of race officials as per MNZ Rule 7.4.1.

MECHANICAL ISSUES ON TRACK

Every competitor whose machine becomes disabled, should signal they have a problem by raising their hand.  Exit the track as soon as possible and place their bike, and themselves, in safe positions.  if you, or your bike, are in a position that creates a safety issue the session will be red flagged and you may be penalised. 

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH  As per MNZ RULE 14.1d)

You will be given a 3 check form (normally by Recovery) and before being allowed back on the circuit medical, bike, gear and helmet must be rechecked and clearance obtained and approved by the MNZ Steward.

NOISE EMISSION

Circuit noise regulations as provided for under MoMs Appendix: Technical - Rule 7a.  All machines are to be effectively silenced so as not to exceed 95dB(A) "ride by" measured by the official meter mounted 30m from the track centre line. Machines registering consistently in excess of the limit will be brought to the attention of the officials for action to be taken as follows: Exceeding 95 but not exceeding 98dB(A): On the first offence during the meeting the rider will be warned that this has occurred and instructed to rectify the situation. For second and subsequent infringements the machine will be black flagged from the race or practice without further warning. Exceeding 98dB(A): The machine will be black flagged from the race or practice without warning. If circumstances don’t allow the machine to be black flagged, the competitor may be excluded from the results of that practice or race. 

REFUNDS

Prior to the meeting, any entrant will be given a refund on his/her entry fee if for any reason attendance over the weekend is not possible. Notification is required in writing/email to the Race Secretary as early as possible prior to the event.

ANIMALS

No dogs or pets are allowed at the meeting. No Exceptions.

ALCOLHOL/SMOKING/VAPING IN THE PITS

Alochol is not to be consumed until all racing has finished and all machines are off the circuit.  Smoking and vaping is only permitted on the grassed area.

CAMPING

CODE OF CONDUCT

Competitors are responsible, and will be held liable, for not only their own behaviour but also for the behaviour of any of their crew or guests while they are site
